Local musicians have joined together to present Mozart’s Serenade No. 10 for Thirteen Winds, called the “Gran Partita.” You are invited to join us for the concert…and after-concert reception.

The concert is scheduled as follows:
Wed. June 26; 7:00 – 8:30 pm
Troy Community Center; 3179 Livernois Rd., Troy

Tickets are $5 for Troy residents and $10.00 for non-residents.

To register online, go to Activity #:8064-D at rec.troymi.gov/registration – or in person at the Troy Community Center.
You may also purchase your ticket “at the door” on Wed. June 26.

The performing musicians, coordinated by Dr. Michael Cher, are members of three community orchestras (Detroit Medical Orchestra; Royal Oak Symphony; and the Spectrum Orchestra)…and other community music ensembles.

Mozart’s “Gran Partita” is like a small wind symphony – fifty minutes long – considered one of the finest pieces for winds in the classical repertoire. The thirteen instruments include: 2 oboes; 2 clarinets; 2 basset horns; 2 bassoon; 4 French horns; 1 string bass.

The basset horns make the Gran Partita unusual…and very special for musicians and the audience. The basset horn is a member of the clarinet family of instruments. However, the basset horn is larger than a clarinet and has a bend near the end of the instrument. Our ensemble has rented basset horns from the University of Michigan for the June 26th performance.
